Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) and University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry will launch a new interprofessional course to educate medical and dental students on how health care professionals collaborate for the benefit of their patients.

On Thursday, Sept. 13, the entire Detroit Mercy community came together for Celebrate Spirit! “Be the Joy” in the Fitness Center. Hundreds of students, faculty, staff and friends of the University celebrated this annual event to welcome everyone to the fall semester and set our spiritual path for the year.

A group of 20 dental students from Detroit Mercy’s chapter of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) will travel to Guatemala at the end of July to help patients with important dental care needs. But to get there, they need some assistance. 

University of Detroit Mercy held commencement ceremonies on May 11 and 12, 2018, and welcomed more than 1,500 students to the University’s alumni ranks. Congratulations to all graduates for achieving your academic goals!

More than 250 alumni and friends gathered on the McNichols Campus for the annual Titan tradition: Detroit Mercy’s Alumni Chili Cook-off, Feb. 24. Taste buds were sent into overdrive with pots of delicious chili created by representative teams of the University’s colleges/schools, as well as the Titan Club.

When Richard and Penny Persiani heard a group of Detroit Mercy Dental students were raising money for a trip to Central America to help Guatemalans who don’t have access to dental care, they knew they had to contribute.

On August 5, a group of 16 dental students, two dentists and one hygienist from University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Dentistry and Clinic will embark on a mission trip to Chichicastenango, Guatemala. The American Student Dental Association (ASDA) chapter looks to provide dental care to more than 300 adults and children.

University of Detroit Mercy’s 2017 Homecoming will kick off the weekend of September 29-30 with lots of fun and exciting events on the McNichols, Corktown (Dental) and Riverfront (Law) campuses.

Horacio Falcón was only 7 when he and his family arrived in the U.S. from Venezuela to get the medical care his father needed following an accident. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.

University of Detroit Mercy will hold its annual commencement ceremonies on May 12 and 13, 2017. All three commencement ceremonies will take place in Calihan Hall on the McNichols Campus.

Each year, University of Detroit Mercy honors one alumnus from each school and college during the Alumni Achievement Spirit Awards. This year, the 2017 Spirit Awards were held Student Center Ballroom on the McNichols Campus, April 28.

University of Detroit Mercy Board of Trustees recently welcomed three new members: Emil J. Brolick ’69, ’72, retired president and CEO, The Wendy’s Corporation, Mary M. Fisher, D.D.S. ’81, dentist and Eric J. Stanczak, Jr. ’93, chief engineer for full size trucks, General Motors Company.
